With the release of their 6 th album, Make A Difference, Southern Raised is ready to take this album on the road. Working with Producer Kevin Williams and legendary Grammy Award winning Engineer Bil VornDick, was not only a tremendous privilege and honor, but a dream come true for Southern Raised. Bil VornDick is a master of tones and recording and Kevin Williams is everything you could ask for in a producer. “We met Kevin at the National Quartet Convention in 2012, while playing in the lobby. Kevin was passing through on his way out and stopped to listen. God has amazing ways of directing our paths!” shares Lindsay. A friendship was born and a little over a year later, he was producing our CD! That’s one of the things that has been so special about this project. We not only have tremendous respect and admiration for Kevin as a producer, we also cherish his friendship and godly example as well. Our recording experience was so amazing. Getting together with friends, beginning each session in prayer, asking God to bless this project for His Glory. It is our hope that others will feel a little of what we felt while in the studio recording this album.”
“Producing this project has brought much joy to me. I am blessed and fired up every time I hear Southern Raised sing a song. The combination of their classical background along with their love for acoustic music makes their sound as unique as a snowflake. I’ve never seen talent quite like this before. Incredible!” Kevin Williams, Gaither Vocal Band, Humorist and Guitar Soloist
Southern Raised moved to the Ozark Mountains near Branson, Missouri from Northwest Arkansas in 2004. Music has been interwoven throughout much of their lives. Lindsay, Sarah and Emily all began on the classical violin, Emily plays the viola as well and Matthew rounded out the group on the cello. They performed in an orchestra and also a quartet together. Growing up in the Ozark Mountains, a love for acoustic music quickly emerged. Having cut their teeth in the classical genre allowed them to slide into the acoustic world without missing a beat. The two styles have merged together to create a distinct auditory sensation described as” ethereal” and reveals an intuitiveness with each other that is as natural as taking a breath.
Southern Raised’ s composition and delivery of their music has amazed audiences young and old alike with smooth refreshing harmony that reaches right into the soul. They have the ability to wake up the spirit in their songs, keeping true to the quality and yet making it their own with a fresh sound, becoming a Southern Raised trademark.
Their musical style is unique, blending their amazing voices and their abundant instrumental talents to create a sound unlike any other group I know. It was a joy to work with this group, and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a night of music they won’ t soon forget.” – Marty Scarbrough, KASU – FM Program Director
“Sophisticated and polished, the most musically capable group I’ ve seen in years.” – Jack Rouse formerly of the Melodyaires
When asked their heart behind the ministry, Southern Raised says, “He isthe reason we sing, the passion that burns, the cause we carry and the One we love! We thank Him for allowing us the honor to share His message with the world!” When Lindsay, Sarah, Emily and Matt were young, their parents prayed that God would give their family a ministry. Years later this prayer has come to fruition through the ministry of Southern Raised. The answer to this prayer is the driving force behind their being COMMITTED TO THE LORD, EACH OTHER AND BRINGING THEIR MUSIC TO THE PEOPLE.
