What I Really Want for Mother’s Day

Dearest Children,

If it were not for you, sweet ones, I wouldn’t be a mother!

Then again, if it were not for me, you wouldn’t be well…here.

Mothers and children are why we celebrate Mother’s Day, right?

I know you’re grateful. After all, I remind you each and every day about all that I do for you. And all that I teach you! I teach you how to wash your own clothes and dishes, to cook for yourself, to clean. Some people might accuse me of being lazy, but I call it “equipping my children for the real world.” Oh, you will be so prepared!

Now, I know you’re wondering what special item or items would capture the gratitude and love you feel in your heart for me on this upcoming Mother’s Day. You know I’d be happy with anything as long as it comes from your heart, but just in case you need a clue or two, keep reading….

Ooh, applause! Shipshewana has every item I could possibly want, so you won’t have to run all over the place trying to find something special! Just a short drive into Shipshewana, and you could even choose more than one item with all the money you’re saving on gasoline!

This camping chair from Head Over Heels is perfect for those times when I just want to lumber out in the backyard and write love letters to you while you mow or bring me my ice tea. Extra sugar, too.

Love the dress! It’s a perfect color! And it’s from this snazzy boutique that’s new to Shipshewana called “Annalea’s Boutique.” Size 8 please. And matching shoes.

I can’t wait to get a mani and pedi with polish that will match my new dress! Right after that facial and massage.  Spa A La Mod does it all! Oh children, you are so thoughtful!

That gift certificate from Garden Gate Café will come in really handy after a stressful day of running you to your activities. And…I can take a friend! What fun!

Really? A new Vera Bradley purse from Sarah Davis? Oh, you shouldn’t have!

Oh, I just can’t wait for Mother’s Day so we can celebrate together! I know you think you have the best mother in the world, and well, I humbly accept your accolades. Really, YOU, my little ones, make this day worth it all.

Love and Kisses,

Mom

P.S.: No need to fight the restaurant crowds on my special day. Just pick up a steak or some chicken for grilling at Yoder’s Custom Meats. Aren’t you glad I thought of that, too?!

Scale Insects
