Foodie Friday – Fireside Craft Burgers & Brew
When Friday rolls around, the staff here at the Visitors Center has one important topic to discuss; where are we getting lunch? Today the decision was fairly easy to make. We had been craving the food from the former Fireside Cafe that used to be located next door to us before moving to downtown LaGrange. They renamed themselves as Fireside Craft Burgers & Brew, and you guessed it they serve beer now! But beer and cocktails weren’t in the cards for a work lunch, so we ordered food to-go from their revamped menu.
Fireside has always been known for their smoked meats, and that staple never changed when they moved to LaGrange. One of their featured sandwiches right now is their “Fully Loaded” sandwich. It comes with your choice of pulled pork or chopped brisket, topped with bacon, smoked onions, Fireside cream cheese, melted cheese, and pickles. My mouth was watering as I watched my coworker savor the smoked sandwich, brisket is always one of my top choices when going to Fireside. There’s always next time!
Three of us gravitated to the “Beer Cheesinator” which is a double burger on brioche topped with onion rings, bacon, and lots of beer cheese. The burger stands tall, towering over the side of fries that comes with their chipotle ranch for dipping. The flavors and levels of the burger go great together, meshed by the unique beer cheese. For being so big, it’s easy to handle and doesn’t make a mess.
Finally, the “Smoked Onion Cheesyburger” was the final choice. And yes, they do smoke their own onions! The two patties are topped with not only their smoked onions but cheese and any other toppings you would like to add like lettuce, tomato, pickles, you name it. It’s a simple yet delicious burger.
If you’ve been to the old location, you’ll definitely want to check out the new menu and atmosphere in LaGrange. If you haven’t been to either the old or new Fireside, what have you been doing?! I’ll be making plenty of trips back to, especially when I can enjoy one of their 10+ draft beers. Their full menu, list of draft and bottled beers, and cocktails are listed on the Fireside website to make your mouth water even more.
