The staff here at the Visitors Center couldn’t wait for lunchtime to roll around this Friday. We’ve all been doing the “New Year thing” with trying to eat healthy, but on Fridays, all bets are off. Zeroing in on some fried food, we made the venture across the street to pick up our to-go order from the Wana Cup Restaurant.

Chicken Strip Basket

Chicken strips and tater tots. I hear coworkers crave this from Wana Cup at least once a week, so it was inevitable that 3/4 of us would end up with the famous basket. Fried to perfection with a unique breading, the chicken inside stays hot and fresh. It matches perfectly to their zesty honey mustard. If you really want to switch things up from the usual french fries, try their crispy tater tots.

Or go the classic route with their crinkle-cut fries. To be honest, I normally don’t care for crinkle-cut style, but whenever I eat Wana Cup you can bet I get the fries. They’re thinner and crispy just like they should be.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich

I went with a semi-healthier option by getting the grilled chicken sandwich basket. But yes, I still had to get the fries, I couldn’t pass that up. Whether you choose crispy or grilled, the toppings are up to you. I kept mine simple with mayo, lettuce, onion, and pickle on their toasted bun. The chicken is grilled just right and pulls apart easily. I may have found a new favorite when I visit.

House Made Root Beer

The most famous thing the Wana Cup Restaurant sells is its Root Beer. People drive from all over to fill up their gallon jugs with this soda. Personally, I’m not a soda drinker, but my coworkers are and can’t pass up the opportunity for a cup. Feeling like having a dessert? Try one of their root beer floats, I hear they’re a game changer!

Next time you’re in Shipshewana the Wana Cup is the perfect stop for a quick bite to eat, something to take back to the hotel, or a sweet-tooth filler. Anything you choose will have you convinced!
