Tauren Wells
Before the world ever hears a note, reads a word, or witnesses a performance, Tauren Wells shares his artistry with his wife and children.
He doesn’t write, sing, or perform in pursuit of success; it’s much simpler and purer than that. The multi-GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer, songwriter, and pastor creates in order to draw his family closer to their collective faith, imparting lasting strength upon them. The same intent underscores his 2025 fourth full-length LP, his upcoming literary debut, and the Austin, TX house of worship he co-founded with his wife-Church of Whitestone.
“One of my favorite parts about making an album, writing a book, or creating anything is the moment I get to show my family what I’m doing,” he affirms. “There’s nothing like hearing them sing the songs. Who cares if it’s a success? I have a memory ingrained in my head that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. It brings so much beauty before there are ever results. One of the most invaluable things my wife and boys give me is perspective on what is important, what matters most, how fragile and fast life is, and how important our words are. It gives me a purpose to speak and write into.”
Over the course of nearly a decade, he has quietly galvanized, energized, and inspired audiences worldwide. Among many accolades, he has impressively garnered 10 GRAMMY® Award nominations and eight GMA Dove Awards in addition to nods at the Billboard Music Awards, BET Awards, NAACP Image Awards, and more. Gathering over 1 billion worldwide streams and nearly half-a-billion views, he has notched seven #1 hits at radio and three consecutive Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top Christian Albums Chart. His catalog has expanded with two RIAA platinum-certified singles-“Known” and “Hills and Valleys”-and two gold-certified singles, namely “God’s Not Done With You” and “Famous For (I Believe).” Simultaneously, he has distinguished himself as the rare artist who can collaborate on a track with Academy® Award winner H.E.R. or arena-filling hard rock juggernaut Skillet and Davies. Beyond packing houses on headline tours, he notably joined Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey for a blockbuster run. Not to mention, he has delivered show stopping television performances on Good Morning America. Earning widespread acclaim from Billboard and more, Forbes hailed 2022’s Joy In The Morning as “a musical amalgamation, successfully blending R&B, ballads and feel good pop vibes with an uplifting message.”
In January 2024, Tauren and his family started a brand new church in Austin, Texas called Church of Whitestone, opening their doors for 4,000 people in their first weekend of services, marking the largest first day church launch in American history.
