Most quilters have probably heard of Shipshewana, Indiana. Fabric creations are an art form here: knitting, macrame, hand-sewn clothing, weaving, and especially quilting. Amish Quilts are beloved as decor, and so well-made that they can be handed down as family heirlooms.

It makes sense, then, that Shipshewana is also the best place to buy fabric and quilting supplies. In the Shipshewana area alone, you’ll find eight different shops, as well as shops in Topeka, Wolcottville, Middlebury, Ligonier, and Goshen.

The Shipshewana Visitor’s Center has gathered all the info you need to see and shop for quilts and quilting supplies, and created a handy brochure for quilt and quilting-lovers everywhere. You’ll find addresses, phone numbers, web sites (if they have one.)  As well as a legend explaining which shops are handicapped accessible, which are Amish-run, which sell quilts, and whether they take cash only, credit, or both. Stop into the Visitor’s Center, located at 350 S. Van Buren St. in Shipshewana, and pick one up for free!
