The Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail combine quilting, gardening, and art into a one-of-a-kind visitor experience. Explore 16 large gardens featuring millions of blooms, vibrant creativity, and unique patchwork designs. This year, join the Quilt Garden trail in Shipshewana with the addition of two new gardens, adding even more charm to the celebration of community spirit, quilting tradition, and natural beauty.

Farmstead Inn & Conference Center

370 S. Van Buren St., Shipshewana

Located on the grounds of the Farmstead Inn & Conference Center, the garden will feature a Goose Track pattern. Made up of 4,902 flowers featuring Cocktail Vodka Begonia, Super Olympia Rose Begonia, Aloha Blue Ageratum, and Super Olympia White Begonia.

Found outside of the Amish Cottage Shop, Weaver Furniture Sales, the 9 Patch garden includes 1,767 flowers featuring Super Olympia White Begonia and Easy Wave Red Velour Petunia.

Is there a map of the Quilt Gardens?

Yes, you can download this map or pick up a free copy at the Shipshewana/LaGrange County Visitors Center.

When can I see the Quilt Gardens?

The Quilt Gardens are viewable May 30 – September 15 each year during all daylight hours. Shipshewana and LaGrange County is on Eastern Standard Time which means in the summer, you can enjoy the gardens in daylight as late as 8 or 9 p.m.

Are the Quilt Gardens all in one location?

No, there are 2 Quilt Gardens in Shipshewana, the heart of Amish Country, with the rest located throughout Elkhart County. The closest other Quilt Gardens to Shipshewana are found in our Amish neighboring town of  Middlebury with the remaining garden sites spread throughout the cities and towns of BristolElkhartGoshen Nappanee, and Wakarusa along the Heritage Trail.

Where is Parking Located for the Quilt Gardens in Shipshewana?

Parking is located within walking distance of both Quilt Gardens.

For the Farmstead Inn Quilt Garden, visitors can park on the right side of the building and use the nearby sidewalk to view the garden and take a photo with the award-winning “I Love Shipshe” 3-D Sculpture.

For the Weaver Furniture Sales Quilt Garden, visitors can park in the gravel parking lot on the east side of W 075 N Street. Please be advised and do not block the metal horse hitching post.

Are the Quilt Gardens Accessible?

For the best Quilt Garden experience, its recommended to take the paths and lawns surrounding each site’s location. Quilt Gardens can be seen from your vehicle, but are best viewed if you park at the nearby parking lots and visit the garden up close.
