All the Cool Camping Options Near Shipshewana

Northern Indiana has a passing familiarity with the RV lifestyle, that’s true. And Shipshewana is no different, as it has both RV parks and RV services available. But what if you’re a ‘back to nature’ kind of camper? Do you yearn to cook over a campfire? See the stars at night and hear the crickets? Struggle with your tent zipper and wonder whether or not a bear will steal your food?

Maybe not that last bit. Not a lot of bears in this area.

To make your BIG CAMPING TRIP planning easy, here’s a round-up of the best campgrounds in Shipshewana, LaGrange County, or just beyond. Find your woodsy home away from home and get started on convincing your kids that bugs are super cool and fishing is the best time ever!

North Park Campground: Water, bathhouse, pavilion, free wi-fi, and ON-SITE ICE CREAM SHOP. Located just North of Downtown Shipshewana.

Shipshewana Campground South Park: City water, electrical, wi-fi, laundry room, bathhouse, pavilions, rec hall, playground, fire rings, & PET-FRIENDLY! Located just South of Downtown Shipshewana and next to the Shipshewana Flea Market.

Trading Post Campground: The go-to spot for riverside camping since 1971! Situated on the gorgeous Pigeon River, with kayak and canoe rentals available, and located in Mongo, Indiana.

Grand View Bend Campground: Located just east of Howe, Indiana, this clean and family-friendly campground is open April through October, and amenities include wi-fi, bathhouses, propane, playgrounds, mini-golf, tennis, swimming pool, volleyball court, pond, pavilion, and access to the Little Pigeon River.

Twin Mills Camping Resort: Shaded campsites, full hook-ups, a great recreation program, and helpful staff make this resort the perfect nearby getaway.

Eby Pines Campground: Spacious camping facilities just minutes from Shipshewana. Amenities include pickleball, swimming pools, hiking trails, playground, scheduled activities, wi-fi, and a dog park!

Elkhart County/Middlebury KOA: Swim in the pool, fish at the pond, hike the trails, join the ice cream social or just hang out at the campfire! They even have shuttle service to the Shipshewana Flea Market!

 

Remember, if you’re more of a glamper than a camper, there are tons of other options! The campgrounds all have spots for RVs and campers, and there are lots of log cabins to rent as well. Don’t forget that Shipshewana has everything you’ll need for a great camping trip: get gear and equipment at L&R Marine and Smokehouse Grills & Supply and stock up on provisions at E&S and Yoder’s Meat & Cheese!
