The Hay Barn

Explore a beautifully preserved 1903 barn multi-generational family barn just 30 minutes southeast of Shipshewana.

Owned by Jon Bovee of Stroh, Indiana, the Bovee Barn was originally slated for demolition. However, due to its remarkable condition, Jon and his wife disassembled and transported it piece by piece to their own land. A few original posts were replaced at a local sawmill in LaGrange County.

It was meant to serve as a storage space for hay and equipment, but as it was rebuilt, its charm didn’t go unnoticed. Encouraged by the community, Jon and his wife are transforming the barn into a wedding and event venue.  Step inside the historic Bovee Barn and hear how preserving a friend’s barn turned into a dream of celebration. Discover how this historic barn is being given new life, not just as a building, but as a gathering place for generations to come.
